Many people feel that a winning smile serves them well in social settings. Unfortunately, a cavity on one of the teeth in your smile can often leave you feeling self-conscious. To remedy this problem Drs. Kristen Langworthy will often use a composite resin fillings.

Composite resin can be colored to perfectly match the enamel shade of the surrounding tooth in your smile. You won’t be able to tell where the cavity was after we are finished.

The process starts with a thorough examination of the tooth in question, which includes taking a series of X-rays. This helps to assess the extent of the decay and the amount of enamel that needs to be removed to repair it.

Our dentist will then numb the area with Novocaine, before using a drill to remove the decay enamel from the rest of the tooth.

Composite resin fillings can be applied directly to the cavity and then hardened and cured with a special ultraviolet light. Other cosmetic fillings, like porcelain fillings, need to be carefully crafted in a separate dental lab, necessitating two visits. Composite fillings achieve, beautiful, durable results in a single visit.

If you have a cavity on any one of your teeth, you should not delay in contacting Langworthy Family Dentistry at 919-762-3239 to schedule an appointment.
