Everyone understands practicing good oral health is the best thing you can do for your smile. However, did you know that people tend to make several mistakes while brushing their teeth? To help you prevent common missteps, we’re glad to tell you about three of the most common errors.
- When brushing your teeth, please don’t use long, horizontal strokes. Instead, try circular or short an-and-down motions to remove plaque. Also, please clean all of your teeth—even your molars.
- When you brush your teeth, please take a moment to think about whether or not you’ve had something acidic. Acids can soften your enamel, and brushing softened enamel could damage it. Please wait at least 30 minutes after you’ve had something acidic to brush your teeth.
- Most dentists recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Three times a day could be ideal. However, anything more than that could be considered excessive, and excessive brushing can damage your gums. It is also important to brush for a full two minutes.
